Urban design is the method of shaping the physical setting for life in villages, towns and cities; essentially it is about place making and an integrated approach the design of the built environment.

Fairhurst’s Urban Design Team works closely with the public and industry professions to achieve strong design visions which can be realised and delivered. Fairhurst’s urban designers provide quality, innovative and sustainable urban design solutions that address urban environments from a social, economic and environmental perspective.

The Urban Design Team provides an integral part of the planning and design process informing development proposals and regeneration agendas throughout the country.

Fairhurst’s urban designers provide design services for both private and public client and are currently involved in residential, commercial, industrial and mixed use developments, on all scales. The designers are responsible for providing clients with guidance on viable development options, through the use of creative graphic techniques and report writing to communicate design concepts and development proposals.

The Urban Design Team is involved in the preparation strategic and detailed masterplanning documents, design briefs, and detailed site layouts, together with urban design analysis, feasibility studies and design research.

The Urban Design Team is based in our Newcastle office, providing a full range of urban design services supporting Fairhurst’s 16 offices nationwide, together with an extended range of services for external clients.
