The project commenced with the demolition of an existing ward building within the Southern General Hospital site and continued with the construction of a new-build four storey building within the footprint of the original building.
The new-build will be home to operating theatres and associated rooms located on the ground floor / Intensive Care Unit for new births on the 1st floor with a link to new Children’s Hospital / Standard Recovery Cots and Treatment Areas on 2nd floor with an external garden and break area / Plant Rooms on 3rd floor.
The new-build construction will take the form of braced steel frame with insitu composite upper floors and suspended reinforced concrete ground floor slab.
The external building fabric is to consist of a mixture of natural stone / rendered Blockwork / terracotta & aluminum rain screen cladding with decorative mesh screens providing shade against solar gains through the mass of windows on each elevation.

These sectors particularly include education, residential and Government areas with the latter involving the current SPS Prison upgrade and expansion programme.
John is a Partner with responsibility for market development and his Civil/Structural team in the Glasgow office whilst also supporting the other operational units.
