Fairhurst was commissioned to provide the full range of civil, structural, geotechnical and environmental engineering services to assist the redevelopment of the former East Glen and Scott Lithgow Shipyards on the south bank of the River Clyde at Port Glasgow. The objective was to open up the site to allow the existing town centre to be extended and this was achieved by realigning a 1km section of the existing A8 Trunk Road along the shoreline. .
