Fairhurst were instructed to submit a detailed planning application for the erection of an Arnold Clark Regional Automotive Complex on a site at Portobello Road, Birtley. The vacant site, which is also contaminated, presents an opportunity to ensure economic development through the creation of 175 jobs. The application includes a car showroom, service department, body shop, valeting department, car and bicycle parking, a car compound area and a site security office. The remainder of the development will contain landscaping and car display areas.
