Fairhurst have recently successfully completed the £120m A867 Upper Forth Crossing at Kincardine to time and on budget. The project was constructed by a Morgan EST - VINCI joint venture using the standard Transport Scotland "Design & Build" form of contract. Fairhurst as lead designer were responsible for the design of all roadwork elements and road structures.
The Fairhurst scope of work involved underground mine consolidation, embankment and road construction over some of the most adverse and challenging ground conditions to be found in Scotland and working in extremely sensitive environmental areas adjacent to the River Forth. The comprehensive 'value engineering' solutions resulted in this project gaining the various awards listed below:
