M+W Group UK have been appointed as EPC Contractor to deliver an ECO Park to Suez SITA. The ECO Park is a Waste to Energy Centre that generates energy from both Gasification and Anaerobic digestion processes. The plant for these processes is contained within a new purpose-built Gasification building and a concrete Tank Farm. In addition to these facilities, various other ancillary building structures are required to complete the Park. The existing Community Recycling Centre (CRC) will undergo a significant refurbishment, including provision of a new architectural canopy structure and this must remain operational throughout the works.
Fairhurst were commissioned to provide all Civil & Structural Engineering services associated with delivery of the new plant. This included the design of the building super-structure, sub-structure and foundations, in addition to all below ground foul and surface water drainage.
The site had an industrial history and as part of our commission we designed and procured a supplementary Geo-Environmental investigation to establish the ground conditions across the site. This information was used to provide detailed advice relating to site remediation requirements and foundation design. To remediate the site Fairhurst developed a detailed site remediation method statement and supervised the site works and also carried out validation reporting.
