Supported by SFT funding, Aberdeenshire Council commissioned a community campus which includes educational, swimming, sport and community facilities and a library building. The campus will be located alongside a proposed football ground and will allow for the integration of two schools. These schools will be merged into a state of the art development and serve the future local Masterplan.
Fairhurst were appointed to provide all civil and structural engineering design services and have been involved from the inception of the project through to the current Tender stage.
Fairhurst are providing a comprehensive consultancy service on the project including super-structure and sub-structure design, specialist geo-environmental input, earthworks modelling, foul and surface water drainage design, transportation assessment and obtaining statutory approvals.
The steel frame superstructure is located on an existing peat based wetland. To offset the time spent removing the peat and backfilling structural fill a composite steel frame structural solution has been developed to reduce the construction period.
