Transportation Engineering : Greendykes New Settlement

LOCATION: Newcastle
CLENT: Cala Homes West Ltd, George Wimpey plc,
Ogilvie Homes
STATUS: Completed 2005

To accommodate predicted increases in demand for household growth in the area, Stirling Council proposed the development of a new settlement on land to the south east of the city. The settlement accommodates up to 2,500 households together with a mix of employment, schools and service uses to comprise a balanced community as well as helping to regenerate existing rural village communities in the area.

Fairhurst’s role was to advise the consortium of housebuilders promoting development on one of the possible sites which became known as Greendykes. This involved intensive input from the outset of the process working with town planners (PPCA) and urban designers (Gareth Hoskins Associates) on the master planning of the site.
