Fairhurst were commissioned by Derwentside District Council, working in Partnership with contracted Architects to undertake an Environmental Improvement Scheme for Craghead, County Durham. Work involves making small but effective interventions upon a sensitive residential site situated between green open space and heavy industry.
Selective clearance is soon to be undertaken to help address the prominent issues such as poor quality environment, parking, poor connectivity and legibility. Work will range from overall strategic planning down to the detailed design of the landscape treatments around the site. The project is to be undertaken in close collaboration with the immediate community and affected local stakeholders to ensure that sensitive and effective measures are drawn up and introduced which will benefit and improve the local environment. This will require the need for regular public consultation events to ensure that an effective dialogue with those involved is maintained.

Ron is a chartered engineer and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has been a partner of Fairhurst since 2003 and has over 25 years experience in the construction industry.
Throughout his career he has been responsible for design, coordination and value management of a wide range of civil and structural projects covering all sectors, including retail, commercial, industrial, municipal, residential and infrastructure.
