Treatment works to provide treatment and disposal of wastewater and all associated waste products within the defined catchment to ensure compliance with the requirements and time-scales of the Urban Waste Water Treatment Regulations and SEPA’s Water Quality Objectives.
The works are constructed within an abandoned quarry. The works receive pumped flow and provide treatment including pre-treatment, primary settlement, high rate activated sludge, and secondary settlement before being discharged to a new long sea outfall. Sludge produced from the works will be thickened on site and transported to Meadowhead STW for processing.
