Another planning success for sustainable residential development

Another planning success for sustainable residential development

Fairhurst have successfully secured outline planning permission subject to a Section 106 Agreement for 350 dwellings on land at Harrowgate Lane, Stockton-on-Tees on behalf of The Co-operative Group.

The development is expected to be the first phase of a wider allocation for up to 2,500 houses. Fairhurst initially prepared a Planning Strategy Report on behalf of The Co-operative Group to outline the main planning considerations in the determination of any subsequent planning application, particularly taking into account the lack of a 5 year housing land supply and the provisions of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

As a result of the Planning Strategy Report, The Co-operative Group instructed Fairhurst for the provision of professional planning advice culminated in the submission of an outline planning application in October 2013. The application was reported to planning committee on 26 June 2014 and was approved by Members. Fairhurst continue to provide professional planning advice to The Co-operative Group on other sites throughout the north of England and hope to continue this relationship.
