The Fairhurst Planning Team had an excellent evening on Friday, 28th June at the RTPI North East Annual Awards Dinner where Josh Murphy, Chartered Principal Planner, was awarded the North East Region Young Planner of the Year Award.

This award aims to seek out the brightest young planners involved in the profession. Josh, a Principal Planning and Environmental Consultant in Fairhurst’s major projects division has been recognised for his contributions and the achievements he’s accumulated throughout his career.

First starting as a Graduate Planner, Josh has risen through the ranks to become Principal Planner. In his career, he has successfully secured a number of major Planning Permissions and consents for an array of clients. Josh has prepared and coordinated Environmental Impact Assessments on various projects ranging from offshore developments to road schemes and has also been a chapter author for accompanying environmental statements. Providing development management services to public sector clients is also a core part of his role.

Passionate about leading initiatives and projects that promote sustainability and environmental friendliness, Josh is an Affiliate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and is working towards full membership.

Josh says, “I believe that every action we take can make a difference, and I am committed to doing my part.”

Josh will now be considered by national judges in September, along with the winners from all other regions, to determine whether he is one of five finalists for the Young Planner of the Year National Award.

Well done Josh! 🙌

I believe that every action we take can make a difference, and I am committed to doing my part.
