Due to a healthy forward workload, we are currently looking to appoint an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join the Edinburgh Office. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to work on a variety of projects spanning the renewable energy, transportation, industrial, retail, residential and commercial sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Site walkovers and foundation inspections
  • Data collection, manipulation and interpretation of both geotechnical and chemical data as part of site investigations for wide range of schemes
  • Preparation of Geotechnical Desk Studies and Interpretative Reports
  • Design, Procurement and Supervision of Site Investigations.
  • Undertake detailed geotechnical analysis and design e.g. foundation design, retaining wall and slope stability assessments etc, in accordance with the Eurocodes.
  • Preparation of Mining Risk Assessments and Remediation Strategies
  • Site support and monitoring activities on construction contracts

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • First degree in Civil Engineering
  • An MSc in Geotechnical Engineering would be advantageous
  • Two years post graduate experience is minimum requirement
  • Experience with GI Data Management Software, such as Holebase or GInt is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in geotechnical design in accordance with the Eurocodes, particularly in challenging ground conditions.
  • Good report writing and communication skills required
  • Hydrogeological modelling experience an advantage
  • GIS experience would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • A knowledge of geo-environmental assessments is also advantageous.
  • Flexible and enthusiastic approach to working within a team structure
  • Confidence and ability to maximise the level of responsibility taken on projects, small and large
  • Clean driving license
