As of February 12, 2024, the mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) has been officially implemented in England! This means that all new planning applications for larger developments must achieve a minimum of 10% net gain. Furthermore, this requirement will extend to smaller developments starting in early April.
The Fairhurst Landscape and Urban Design Team have been diligently collaborating with clients and supporting ecologists for the past few years to ensure the successful implementation of biodiversity gains on site. We recognize the crucial importance of achieving a balanced landscape design, meeting BNG goals, and creating attractive, functional open spaces for end users.
Our team firmly believes in the key role collaboration plays between ecologists and landscape architects in achieving these goals. With the much-anticipated BNG regulations now in force, we look forward to continuing to support our existing and new clients on their journey toward sustainable and biodiverse projects.
