Fairhurst was appointed to convert an existing commercial and retail unit in Central London into a Community Diagnostic Centre for a Private Healthcare provider.
The centre will house a new MRI and PET CT scanner and as such the existing space had to be reconfigured to suit the spatial requirement for the new medical use.
This included removing and installing new floor slabs, foundations to support the scanners and strengthening works to allow for the removal of walls and floors to provide reconfigured access and openings to both floors.
We also advised on the delivery aspects of the scanner units and assessed the capacity of the existing surrounding underground structures to enable the safe crane lifts. This included in some areas, the design of temporary works to resist the surcharge load from the crane lift.
