The A9 Dualling is part of a Scottish Government ambitious programme to upgrade the A9 between Perth and Inverness to dual carriageway. Fairhurst on behalf of Transport Scotland have been commissioned to undertake the design of the Central Section between Glen Garry and Kincraig.
The total central section consists of three schemes with a total length of 37.2km. As part of the A9 Dualling new grade separated junctions were required to provide access to local settlements including the towns of Dalwhinnie, Newtonmore and Crubenmore west of the A9 trunk road. A significant major multi-span bridge structure was required to carry the new A9 dual carriageway over the River Spey and its associated flood plains.
Appointed by Transport Scotland through a competitive tendering procedure to provide design and construction supervision services for the A9 Dualling, Lot 1 Central Section, Glen Garry to Kincraig.
