Aberdeen City Centre Master Plan

Discipline: Civil

The £150m project will see the rejuvenation of over 65,000sqm of public realm, split across seven key development areas. Aberdeen City Centre Master Plan aims to improve the sustainability of Aberdeen by reducing private motorised traffic, congestion and pollution and making a more enticing environment for active travel, mitigating carbon use during implementation. The design includes play areas, public art, events spaces, and greening the area with trees, planters and rain gardens.

Fairhurst is leading on the provision of civil engineering advice for this programme of streetscape projects which will deliver improvements to the public realm across the city centre. In addition, Fairhurst is leading on Building Information Modelling (BIM) and performing the role of Lead Designer for the Union Street Central project. A complex network of existing below ground infrastructure including utilities, sewers, culverts, bridges and basements, together with a live streetscape environment presents specific challenges for this regeneration project.
