This project delivered 94 new homes, in partnership with the London Borough of Hounslow, for people over 55 and also those with specialist requirements.
The extra-care housing development in Feltham provides homes that allow residents to enjoy individual and independent living while also having access to support and care when needed.
The low level building is built around a number of courtyards to provide safe and secure amenity space, and duel aspect apartments.
The site was very contaminated with asbestos containing made ground and had a high risk of UXO’s on the site. Fairhurst worked with the contractor to raise the building levels to minimise the removal of material from site. Extensive probing was carried out across the site before the piling works to search for any buried ordnance.
The building is a mixture of load bearing metal walls and steel framing in the open plan communal lounges. Clash detection software was used throughout the project design to ensure coordination between the different forms of construction.
