Camphill Reservoir Safety Measures

While reservoirs are vital for the supply of water to sustain life and economic activity and to generate electricity, recent UK and international experience has demonstrated the critical nature of dam safety.

Under our framework with Scottish Water, we provided All Reservoir Panel Engineer (ARPE), Supervising Engineer (SE), and assessment and design services to address safety matters raised during inspections. These included a flood study to determine Probable Maximum Flood flows, computer modelling of the spillway channel and overseeing physical modelling of the arrangement to define upgrade works. This led to the design of drawdown arrangements to allow water levels to be managed in the case of an emergency. Other work included spillway channel bank protection and bank raising to mitigate flood risk and the replacement of the vehicle access bridge to provide a secure maintenance route.
