This project included 4.69 kilometres/2.91 miles of extended track in both directions, connecting Leith and Newhaven to the current Edinburgh tramline at York Place.
After a competitive tender competition, Fairhurst was commissioned in 2019 to deliver the early contractor involvement, target cost and detailed design for full road infrastructure, including major ground improvements associated with the Edinburgh Trams, York Place to Newhaven.
The scheme, in addition, included eight new tram stops, numerous junction improvements, new segregated cycling facilities and hard and soft landscaping and public realm features along the whole length of the route.
