Fairhurst was appointed by Grissan to provide a wide range of engineering services for several large-scale commercial gas-to-grid anaerobic digestion plants at several locations across Scotland, including Invergordon, Portgordon, Dufftown, Girvan & Carnoustie.
Each project delivered complex gas manufacturing facilities and contained large storage tanks and digesters, vast concrete tank bunds industrial buildings, extensive pipe bridges and gantries in addition to a network of below-ground infrastructure.
The design of these multifaceted facilities required us to gain a detailed knowledge of the gas manufacturing process, enabling us to develop designs which reflect the core process and improve efficiencies. In addition to our core engineering services, we took a leading role in site design and coordination.
Services provided by Fairhurst included topographical surveys, ground investigation, planning input, earthworks modelling, drainage design, flood risk assessments, transportation assessments, attaining technical consents, structural design of large tank foundations and tank bunds, structural design of buildings and other ancillary structures including complex plant support structures, railway crossing, Principal Designer role, temporary works advice and support during construction.
