Magdalene Court is a new sustainable residential development in Newcastle city centre which provides housing for people with disabilities. The project was carried out on behalf of the client and charity, St Mary Magdalene & Holy Jesus Trust.
Fairhurst were appointed through Meldrum Group to provide multidisciplinary services as part of the overall design team. The in-house services Fairhurst provided on this project included civil & structural engineering, geotechnical / geo-environmental, landscape architecture, transport planning, highways & town planning. We also provided a number of other services using our wide network of sub-consultants.
The project involved the demolition of three 1960’s apartment blocks, which were deemed no longer fit for purpose and the development of a fantastic new 15 apartment (accessible – one bedroom) residential block and three two storey family homes.
Fairhurst was heavily involved from the outset to completion and was always on hand to help to streamline the programme and to react in resolving any issues / obstacles throughout the duration of the project.
