The project involves the design of Building 32 for Numatic International, who manufacture the globally famous ‘Henry’ vacuum cleaner. The project comprises of three phases to construct a manufacturing and distribution centre and consists of a new mould shop, goods in / intermediate storage area, assembly area and distribution centre.
The design of the building is a steel frame superstructure with a piled substructure; combining a mix of driven piles and CFA piles to suit conditions. The walls are a combination of brick masonry walls constructed from piled ground beams and cladding with side rails. The ground floor is a pile-reinforced concrete slab, with the piles tying into the concrete slab. There are existing Wessex Water drainage assets to avoid across the site, and contaminated land issues to be dealt with.
Phase 1 is currently in construction while Phase 2/3 is scheduled for commencement in 2025. We are eager to share the development of this project as we progress.
