The Morpeth Leisure Centre has received the Community Benefit Award at the RICS North East Awards 2024. The awards took place on 3rd June 2024 at The Great Hall, Northumbria University in Newcastle which also determined the finalists that will compete at October’s RICS National Awards ceremony.

The Morpeth Leisure Centre development provides a fantastic new leisure facility and community hub in this historic Northumberland market town. It provides state-of-the- art facilities and a whole new customer experience for all ages of the local community, including a new adult learning facility with classrooms for STEM learning and catering. The centre has also incorporated the town’s library, a council customer service centre and Northumberland Skills’ new learning facility for school leavers and adults to support post-16 education and employment opportunities.

The benefit to the residents of Morpeth and beyond supports all ages with opportunities for fun, fitness, wellness and relaxation. It also contains a number of eco-friendly measures to drive down running costs and the environmental impact, with nearly 70% reduced carbon emissions per year, compared to the previous facility. The centre has transformed and extended the high street and provides a new landmark in Morpeth.

We are excited to see the project  represented at the prestigious RICS National Awards event, which is held in London on 04 October 2024.

Stay tuned nearer the time for further details!

We are proud to have provided multidisciplinary engineering services for the new Morpeth Leisure Centre and to have helped deliver this project as a regional award winner. The centre serves as an example of how a facility directly benefits the local community, embedding sustainability and diversity and inclusion throughout all the works. We extend our congratulations to the whole project team for delivering on project ambitions and bringing the vision to life.
