Craig joined Fairhurst in 2016 as a Trainee Technician following the completion of his sixth-year studies at secondary school. As part of Craig’s Initial Professional Development, he studied at college on a day release basis working towards a Built Environment HNC qualification. Craig achieved this in 2018, completing his initial training period.

Craig’s eagerness to learn has led to gaining valuable experience in both civil and structural engineering disciplines in addition to allowing him to build a solid base of knowledge in these fields. Keen to showcase his positive attitude and drive to succeed within the engineering profession, Craig began the process of achieving Engineering Technician (EngTech) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). In 2022, Craig sat and passed the ICE EngTech Professional Review, leading to his promotion to Senior Technician.

Craig is now the lead Technician for several projects of varying scale and complexity, ranging from large residential developments to car showrooms and private domestic properties.

Craig is continuing his professional development with support from Fairhurst and his next milestone is to achieve Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with the ICE.

I have always benefited from learning practically rather than academically. As such, I chose to join the Fairhurst work-based training programme. This allowed me to develop my skills ‘on-the-job’.
