About the Role – We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Structural Engineer to join our growing structural engineering team in Dundee. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects — from residential and commercial developments to complex infrastructure and heritage structures — while receiving full support towards professional development and chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).
You’ll gain hands-on experience in design, analysis, and project delivery, working closely with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the design and analysis of building and civil structures in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, and reports in line with UK codes and standards (Eurocodes, BS, Building Regulations).
- Develop and refine structural models using software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, or Tedds.
- Support the preparation of drawings and details using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Undertake site inspections, surveys, and assist with structural assessments.
- Collaborate with architects, clients, and contractors to deliver cost-effective and buildable design solutions.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, design reviews, and project documentation.
- Maintain awareness of sustainability and digital engineering trends within the built environment.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- BEng or MEng degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (accredited by ICE or IStructE).
- Strong understanding of structural principles and materials behaviour.
- Familiarity with UK design standards and codes (Eurocodes, BS).
- Competence in structural analysis and drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to learn and work towards professional registration (IEng or CEng).
Desirable:
- Experience from a placement year or internship in a structural or civil engineering environment.
- Awareness of BIM processes and digital collaboration tools.
- Interest in sustainable and low-carbon design solutions
