Juni first walked through the doors of the Fairhurst Newcastle Office in 2006 just after her graduation with her CV following a connection made through a friend. The interview with Partners, Kevin and Ron, led to an offer for a graduate engineer role and she never looked back.
She embarked on her journey in this industry when she started her diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering right after her GCSEs in Singapore. She gained practical experience by working for three years in the industry before pursuing her degree at Newcastle University. Accustomed to the male-dominated industry, Juni fitted in seamlessly as the first female engineer within the Structures team in the Newcastle office. Juni progressed through the ranks to become the first female Technical Director of the team.
Her proudest achievement is passing the gruelling seven-hour exam to become a Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE, CEng). Grateful for the support of senior team members when she started, their guidance shaped her into the engineer she is today. Her passion for structural engineering has only grown over the years as she worked on many award-winning projects. Trinity Square in Gateshead was her biggest project where she was the lead structural engineer. Considerable efforts went into the project only for the development to win the most nominations for the infamous Carbuncle Cup Award in 2014.
As a Technical Director, she hopes to continue providing a thriving and nurturing environment for her team, facilitating their growth and ensuring that they find fulfilment in their work.
