Fairhurst is proud to be part of the project team that specified and designed the ground anchors for the SL-150 shallow landslide barrier recently completed at Bridge of Orchy.

After a major landslip blocked the line in 2020, concern remained for future slips. Scotland’s Railway closely monitored the hillside while measures to strengthen the resilience of this section of the route were considered.

The £750,000 Geobrugg barrier spans 45 metres and is constructed from durable steel mesh. It’s a type of barrier commonly used in the Alps and is designed to intercept soil and rock debris, preventing material from reaching the railway.
