Kinmylies Nursery

Fairhurst’s office provided civil and structural engineering services for the £3 million Kinmylies Nursery project, commissioned by The Highland Council to deliver a high-quality early learning facility supporting the city’s growing education infrastructure.

Our Inverness team undertook the structural design of the superstructure, incorporating timber frame construction utilising glulam support beams, prefabricated roof cassette panels, steel stability frames, and a reinforced concrete ground slab, all delivered in compliance with SER certification requirements. The foundation design included detailed analysis for variable ground conditions and the inclusion of retaining walls to accommodate site level changes.

The Civil Engineering design scope covered external works, including surface and foul site drainage, site level design and cut & fill analysis, water main connections, and the specification of a vehicle restraint system to ensure safety and compliance within the site layout.

Through close collaboration with the design team and contractor, Fairhurst delivered a coordinated, cost-effective, and technically robust design solution that supported efficient construction and long-term durability for the client.
