Role Overview – We are seeking a Graduate Engineering Geologist to support the delivery of high‑quality geotechnical solutions across a diverse range of projects. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise, site experience, and professional skills within one of the UK’s leading Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Engineering consultancies. You will work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams, supporting projects for governments, businesses, rail, architects and planners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design & Technical Delivery
- Assist with the preparation of desk studies, interpretative reports, and geotechnical deliverables under supervision.
- Contribute to the development of ground models, geotechnical assessments, and design solutions.
- Apply geological and geotechnical engineering principles to support integrated engineering designs.
- Support technical problem‑solving activities and provide design input where required.
- Develop knowledge of earthworks, drilling and grouting techniques, contaminated land legislation, and relevant design standards.
Project Management
- Support project and contract management activities, including programme and budget control.
- Assist with the supervision and coordination of ground investigation works.
- Manage assigned tasks effectively, ensuring timely delivery and high standards of work.
- Contribute to the preparation of fee proposals, tenders, and technical submissions with peer support.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and project discussions as appropriate to your level.
- Support business development and marketing activities where opportunities arise.
- Work closely with other disciplines, including civil and structural teams, to deliver integrated solutions.
Quality & Compliance
- Assist in ensuring all work is delivered in accordance with relevant design codes, standards, and legislation.
- Support Preliminary Risk Assessments and intrusive ground investigations in line with best practice.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and site documentation.
- Promote high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance, including adherence to CSCS requirements.
Leadership & Mentoring
- Work collaboratively within a multi‑disciplinary team, learning from senior colleagues and sharing knowledge.
- Support and, where appropriate, assist in mentoring junior staff or trainees.
- Take responsibility for personal development, expanding technical competence and professional awareness.
- Develop an understanding of the wider civil and structural capabilities of the firm.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
- Degree in Geology or a related discipline (essential)
- MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field (desirable)
Experience
- 1–3 years’ relevant industry experience
- Experience of ground investigation works and interpretative reporting
Other Requirements
- CSCS card (required but can obtain if successful)
- Full UK driving licence
