Fairhurst were commissioned by Somerset Council to assist with the rehabilitation and replacement of an existing stone masonry wall along Cothelstone Road in Bishops Lydeard. An initial inspection of the existing wall was performed to determine the extent of the repointing works and the replacement limits. Using this information, general arrangement drawings and a project specification were developed for use in the tender process. Once a Contractor was appointed by the Council, Fairhurst provided construction contract management for the project. One challenge faced was the traffic management, due to the length of the diversion faced by motorists with a full road closure, however this was determined to be the safest option due to the road width, which was approximately 5.0m.
