Fairhurst was commissioned by Stirling Council to undertake the design of a replacement structure at Croftamie following a partial collapse.
Fairhurst has been working with the client on this structure since 2020 undertaking a capacity assessment at this time on the original structure. Due to continued support since this date, the client requested the services of the rail and civils team for this replacement project.
The bridge carries the A809 over Catter Burn and has in recent years been restricted to single lane running. The new structure has reopened this to 2-way traffic and also incorporated a footway.
Fairhurst carried out a range of work in support of the project, including:
- Principal Designer duties
- Optioneering of design proposals
- Geotechnical investigations
- Detailed design
