Gateshead Innovation Village is a research project inspired by the 2018 Great Exhibition of the North led by Home Group who are one of the UK’s biggest providers of homes for sale and affordable rent. This development involves the construction of five different affordable house types with different structural forms built over 41 different plots in Gateshead site.
Fairhurst’s multi-discipline capability was instrumental in their ability to deliver the range of civil, structural and planning services required in order to secure planning and deliver construction level design information on this exciting, innovative development.
The exemplar SuDs design by Fairhurst used for this project effectively mitigates surface water runoff, promotes natural drainage, and enhances biodiversity within the surrounding environment. The proactive approach of each member of the design team as well as the nature of collaborative working between Client, Contractor and the design team, has undoubtedly been key to the success of this project.
