The beginning of February marks just under six years’ since Fairhurst first ‘walked’ the undeveloped site with our client during the site selection process in 2019. The TJ Morris Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) at Omega South Warrington has gone ‘live’ – meaning stock is being delivered and is flowing through the multi-million pound, fully automated mechanical handling system that is housed within the building envelope.

Fairhurst has a long association with TJ Morris assisting and advising on various developments around the country and at their head offices in Liverpool. The firm also provided services to them for another major southern RDC at Amesbury, Wiltshire between 2005 and 2008.

At the same time as reviewing the Omega development in 2019, Fairhurst was also actively reviewing the suitability of other potential RDC sites’ in other parts of the county.

We are pleased to say that this advice, coupled with the successful delivery of the Omega project, has led to Fairhurst’s re-appointment by TJ Morris to deliver their next prestigious RDC project in Doncaster. After initial work by Fairhurst, to select the site and gain planning permission, the pre-selected site was ‘enabled’ with a major earthworks scheme and new vole receptor provision (required to address relocation of the local vole population). Tender designs were then prepared and the project is now set to move to construction in Spring 2025.

The new RDC, VMU and Training Centre Building sits proudly alongside other projects in the Bristol office and the firm’s large and varied logistics portfolio. It is a great example of the repeat business and client satisfaction ethos that the firm prides itself on.

Well done to all within Fairhurst who have been involved over the years and today!
