Ellon Office, Family Centre and Library

The new Aberdeenshire Council office replaced the existing council office facilities to allow more staff to work in the same main building in Ellon located on the Former Ellon Academy site in the town centre. The building also consists of a library and family centre on the ground floor, providing services to local residents. The project aspired to meet the council’s net zero targets and therefore this was focused on within the design materials utilised.

We were involved with this project from the outset commissioning initial site surveys and geotechnical site investigations. We carried out full structural design on this project utilising a 2 storey glulam and CLT structure with CLT floors and roof members. Foundations consisted of reinforced concrete strip and pad foundations on engineering fill. The project was fully modelled in Revit up to BIM level 2.
