Close to the centre of Todmorden in West Yorkshire’s Calder Valley the site of the former Ferney Lee Home for Older People is to be transformed to create 19 affordable rented homes and apartments and an Enterprise Centre which will provide rentable workspaces.
In 2023, Sanderson Associates was appointed to provide Traffic & Transportation advice to the Calder Valley Community Land Trust and their development partners, Connect Housing, on plans to provide much-needed affordable housing in the area along with equally needed flexible workspace to encourage and support local businesses and entrepreneurs.
Sanderson Associates provided advice on several aspects of the development including improvements to the site access and its junction to increase junction visibility and improvements to pedestrian infrastructure to encourage active travel trips to local facilities and public transport links.
A key element of the development was the provision of parking for vehicles and cycles, including the provision of charging points for electric vehicles in line with local design standards.
