New 2,000m2 single storey food retail store for Sainsburys Supermarket Ltd and design and build contractor CTS (Shopfitting) Limited, at Winchburgh, West Lothian, completed April 2024.
It incorporates the latest low carbon technologies including solar photovoltaic PV on the roof and refrigeration driven heating so it will consume no fossil fuels. It also includes Sainsbury’s ‘SmartCharge’ EV charging proposition which will open in the coming weeks.
Fairhurst were proud to support the CTS led design team through the Scottish Building Warrant process and provide SER Certification for the Building Structure. This built on recent work on building modifications, energy efficiency and plant replacement projects at other Sainsbury’s stores at Biggar Road Edinburgh, Garthdee Aberdeen, Stewarton Kilmarnock, and Kirkcaldy where Fairhurst provides a full range of structural and SER certification services.
As with all food retail projects, it required a big collaborative effort from the whole supply chain at the end to close out residual contractor design warrant and SER items prior to achieving practical completion and opening of the store to the local community.
