In November 2005, Scott began his career at Fairhurst as a fresh faced 18-year-old school leaver in the Newcastle Landscape & Urban Design team as a Trainee Technician.

Not long after finding his feet and learning the ropes, with the guidance, mentoring and support from the Partners and his Senior colleagues, Scott knew he had chosen the right career for him in a rewarding profession that can make a difference.

From very early on in Scott’s career, he had the pleasure of working on a variety of schemes including a number of Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and large-scale public realm schemes, notably the M8, Kincardine Bridge, Trinity Square, the A9 / A82, Edinburgh Trams and recently the Award-winning Cross Tay Link Road.

Working on schemes such as the above from a very early stage in Scott’s career helped him quickly gain invaluable skills, experience, and exposure to clients, design teams, and external consultants.  Scott continued to build on his skills and experience and in 2017 became AssocRTPI (formally TechRTPI) with the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Scott is now passing on his skills, knowledge and experience as a Principal Landscape Technician to the rest of the team. Working on a multitude of exciting and rewarding projects, he is looking forward to the next chapter in an already extremely rewarding career!

Looking back on my Fairhurst journey, I’m thankful for all of the people, experiences, mentoring and guidance that has propelled me to where I am today.  I feel incredibly proud to now be mentoring my colleagues in their own careers and seeing them develop into talented individuals.
